“He is a man whose secret is as his open, and his words are as his actions”If he orders people to a good, he was the most vigorous of them in pursuing itAnd if he forbade people from an evil, he was the strictest in avoiding itI saw him needless from what the people have, abstinent from what they owned,And I saw the people in need of him, seeking what he has”.
These were the words used to describe Imam Al-Hasan Al-Basri, one of the greatest people to come in the generation after the companions of the Prophet ﷺ (tabi’een). If we could learn to emulate such character, perhaps we can find our salvation, as stated.
