The 10 Recitations – Must Listen!

I’ve rarely been as blown away by something as I am by this:

This is surah Al-Fatiha recited in all 10 recitations simultaneously! Have a listen and see if you can spot any differences between them 🙂

A bit of background on the 10 recitations

The ten recitations are part of what was revealed in the Qur’an. They stem from different companions (sahabah) who recited the Quran to the prophet (saw) and he verified their authenticity. These companions then preserved as part of the quran through generations of students and teachers.

The recitation most of us are used to is Hafs through his teacher Asim. Another common one is Warsh through his teacher Nafi’.

  1. Assalamualaikum

I didn’t understand the simultaneous nature of the recitation. Why was the verse alif laam meem recited in between the verses of fatiha?
