The means of reliance

“Yusuf (as) ran to the door when he knew it was locked. When it seemed worthless to do so, he sought whatever means he could and relied on Allah to save him”

Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh

This is the story of Prophet Yusuf (as) when he was being seduced by Zulekha, the wife of his owner.  It encapsulates the understanding we should have in balancing between seeking the means and relying on Allah. Whether you are battling your inner demons or battling global injustice, this is a lesson for you. In a time when Muslims couldn’t feel more helpless, we must return to Allah to seek our help by taking the necessary steps for Him to help us:

  • Du’a (supplication);
  • Action; and
  • Reliance on Him alone
